Under the Electrical Safety Standards in the Private Rented Sector ( England) 2020 electrical tests will become mandatory for rental properties.
Landlords need to be aware of the impending changes in the law regarding electrical checks announced by the government . The legislation will effect all private properties in England taking away the discretionary element for landlords to choose whether or not to carry out electrical checks.
With approval of the House of Commons and Lords the proposed regulation is likely to become law on the 1st July 2020.
